Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Huff Doherty; father of Victor Sargent Doherty, Dorothy Ashley Doherty, Catherine Baird Doherty DeKrey, Julia Holbrook Doherty and William Thomas Doherty, III; grandfather of Dorothy Ashley Fortenberry and William Stotlar DeKrey; great-grandfather of Dorothy Ashley Wambsgans and brother of the late Mary Elizabeth Magill. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Washington, DC, at a later date.
