
QUENTIN CLEMENT KAISER (Age 92)
On October 15, 2013, of Kensington, MD. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Kaiser (nee Burkland); father of Susan Detwiler, Donald (Donna) and Richard (Kirsten) Kaiser; also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kaiser was born in Glendale, New York. During WWII, he enlisted in the US Army Air Forces and flew 65 combat missions as a B-25 radio gunner with the Mediterranean Allied Tactical Air Force. After the war, he graduated from Hofstra College and then received a master’s degree with a thesis in magnetism from Eastern Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (Oklahoma State University). He worked at the National Bureau of Standards and the Harry Diamond Laboratories and was involved in the pioneering work of microminiaturization of electronic circuits in proximity fuzes. He enjoyed lifelong hobbies in photography and ham radio. He will be remembered as a peacemaker, a man who loved his family and learning, and for instilling a love of science and critical thinking in his children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd, West, Silver Spring, MD, (Valet Parking), Monday, 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 22, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. with funeral service at 1 p.m. Inurnment at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
